Talent Tracker: Who is going where

The digital industry isn’t really about technology, it’s about people. Talent, the hunt for talent and its retention are the bedrock of the industry. NDA’s Talent Tracker column provides a regular update on which companies are recruiting who and from where.

Karen Blackett is taking over from Tom George as Group M’s UK chief executive. The new role is in addition to her WPP UK country manager position, which she has held since 2018.  Blackett will lead strategy and operations for Group M’s agency brands, which include Essence, M/SIX, MediaCom, Mindshare and Wavemaker, from April. 

Spark Foundry UK has announced the promotion of Lee Lythe to the position of Chief Investment Officer. In this role, Lythe will lead the agency’s 100 strong investment team in the UK, overseeing all of Spark Foundry’s media investments, trading activities and commercial partnerships. Reporting to Lindsay Turner, CEO Spark Foundry, Lythe will be responsible for continuing to drive the innovation and integration of the Investment team into the business, leveraging the scale and clout of Publicis Media’s global investment practice, PMX.

Creative shop The Corner has made two promotions in its senior leadership team as Lauren Gray is promoted into the Head of Production role and Theo Philips is now the agency’s Head of Operations.

Laura Sanderson has joined Teads as Strategic Accounts Director. Based in Manchester and reporting to Guy Jackson, Regional Director for Teads in the UK, Sanderson will be tasked with partnering key clients to ensure they capitalise on the full suite of Teads tools within the Teads Ad Manager platform. Sanderson joins from More Media Sales.

BidSwitch has appointed Valerie Zeltser to the role of VP, Client Services. Zeltser will oversee BidSwitch’s client relations teams and strengthen the company’s strategic accounts to increase market growth through deeper engagement with buy and sell-side partners. Zeltser, who will be located in the New York office, joins from Xandr.

Conversion rate specialists Smarter Click has announced the appointment of new Regional Manager Mel Skuse, who will head up the new office in Manchester. Skuse joins the team with a long history in the agency world, bringing a broad experience of the digital marketing scene, with 10 years’ worth of experience.

 VaynerMedia London announced this week that Becky McOwen-Banks will be joining the agency as its first Executive Creative Director. McOwen-Banks joins from FCB Inferno.

Rackspace is undertaking a significant investment in EMEA, with its expansion into the Middle East and the appointment of new general managers to lead local markets.

Andy Brierley has been appointed UK General Manager, joining from IBM where he has more than 20 years’ experience in VP and senior leadership roles. His appointment forms part of Rackspace’s significant investment in EMEA, which has seen it appoint EMEA Managing Director Martin Blackburn, as well as General Managers for the Netherlands, Germany, and the Middle East.

Technology consultancy Tisski has appointed a Head of Marketing and Communications to support its rapid growth. Fiona Harvey has over 20 years’ experience, most recently in developing and delivering communications strategies for large private and public sector organisations including MAG (Manchester Airports Group) and MoD (Ministry of Defence).
