The 2022 Retail Week Awards was an evening of food, drink, laughter, dancing and, most importantly, recognition for shopworkers, delivery drivers, and retailers in the heart of London.
The 27th annual Retail Week Awards, hosted by Rylan Clark, celebrated frontline heroes, innovation, and the UK’s most successful businesses. The top prize of Grocer of the Year went to Tesco for “it’s data-driven, promotional transformation which is going down really well with customers and showing up in their increased market share”.
Meanwhile, Co-op claimed the Responsible Retailer Award, ASOS was chosen as Fashion Retailer of the Year, and HelloFresh picked up the Speciality Retailer prize. The Very Group won both Best Retailer over £250 million and Best Place to Work.
“The future of shopping is exciting, with new technology paving the way for more immersive experiences, and changing customer behaviour driving product and business model innovation,” said Hanna Jackson, Retail Week Managing Director. “Our award winners show that UK retailers have remained focused on innovating their businesses, products and experiences despite another difficult year for the industry.”
Individual awards went to Jhorvis Tyrell, a Warehouse Operative at Marks & Spencer in Castle Donington, Derby, who picked up the Distribution and Delivery Hero Award; Brian Torley, a Store Manager at Marks & Spencer Falkirk, who won the Store Hero Award; and Prince Okoro, Regional Commercial Manager at EE, who secured the Diversity Champion Award.
Other individual trophies were awarded to Jo Whitfield, Chief Executive of Food at Co-op; Roger Whiteside, retiring CEO of Greggs; and Theo Paphitis, Chair of Theo Paphitis Retail Group.
