RTB House hires former Nike privacy director

Automated performance advertising platform RTB House has announced the appointment of Charles Simon as Vice President of Private Advertising Standards.

In this role, Simon will lead the shaping of internal and external privacy advertising standards for frameworks such as Privacy Sandbox, the Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF), and various IAB initiatives like the MSPA. He will drive regulatory engagement efforts to expand RTB House’s compliance initiatives and forge strategic partnerships to advance the company’s mission to promote a privacy-forward advertising ecosystem.

“Joining RTB House is a thrilling opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented engineering and marketing minds amidst a paradigm shift in the way industry operates. I’m excited to be part of and further shape RTB House’s privacy-forward approach to marketing while pursuing the strategic partnerships necessary to make a positive difference for everyday users of the Open Web,” said Simon.

He joins RTB House from Nike, where he was Senior Director of Privacy & Governance Architecture, leading the design and build of privacy-preserving infrastructure for its users, employees and elite athletes. Before this, Simon worked in several privacy and policy-oriented positions at Google including as the Privacy Engineering Team Lead for its Devices and Services PA and, earlier, at MediaMath, where he led the design and implementation of its technology responses to the GDPR and co-founded version one of the IAB Europe TCF in the process.

“At RTB House, we strive to be at the forefront of privacy in the industry. We are excited to have Charles here, where his expertise will play a crucial role in furthering RTB House’s global expansion of, and leadership in, the cookieless advertising ecosystem moving forward,” said Michael Lamb, Chief Commercial Officer at RTB House.

“Charles’ input will be instrumental in strengthening our commitment to responsible advertising practices, mission clarity, and contributing to the further development of the Privacy Sandbox. Charles’s experience in technology standardisation and regulatory engagement makes him perfectly placed to help shape the future of digital advertising, particularly amidst the industry’s movement towards a world without third-party cookies.”
