Talent Tracker: Time Out Group, Awin, Criteo and more

Time Out Group has announced that Mary Keane-Dawson has joined as CEO of Time Out Media, with immediate effect. Based in London and reporting into Time Out Group CEO Chris Ohlund, Keane-Dawson will lead Time Out’s Media business globally, managing its commercial and content teams, implementing a new consumer and partner focussed business strategy whilst driving efficiency and improving economic returns. With 25 years of experience, most recently Keane-Dawson was Group CEO of influencer marketing platform TAKUMI, and prior to that was European MD of Neo@Ogilvy, holding a main Board position of Ogilvy & Mather. Previous positions include Interim CEO at award-winning design and UX agency Collective London; MD at Steak Media; and Worldwide MD at SPAFAX, leading its global commercial capability growth before selling to WPP Group after leading a successful MBO.

Global affiliate marketing platform Awin, has appointed its first Chief Customer Officer (CCO), David Lloyd, to support the company’s customer-centric vision. In the newly created role, Lloyd is responsible for overseeing every aspect of Awin’s customer experience, leading the company’s Regional Managers and Global Publisher, Account Management, Operations, New Business, Marketing & PR teams. With previous roles at Alibaba and Google, Lloyd brings valuable digital marketing, retail, and tech experience to support Awin’s ambitions. Lloyd joined Alibaba in 2016, quickly progressing to UK and Nordics Managing Director, and then to General Manager UK, Netherlands, and Nordics. Lloyd played a crucial role in growing the group’s operations in the region, working with hundreds of European brands across ecommerce, payments and cloud.

Criteo has announced the appointment of Ryan Cook as Managing Director, UK. In this role, Cook will be responsible for setting the local strategy and vision for the market, developing new products to grow both the new and existing portfolio of accounts across all Criteo business streams (Agencies, New Business, Key Account and Core). The role is also focused on helping Criteo work more closely with the media and wider advertising ecosystem, including close links with industry bodies. Cook brings more than 12 years of experience across various roles within the AdTech sector, both in the US and in the UK. During his time at Nexage (now OATH), Cook launched the first Open RTB programmatic platform, helping establish the movement of brands and ad buyers to more transparent, tech-driven advertising. Since then, he has maintained a strong track record within the adtech sector for exceeding revenue goals and delivering high customer service standards. Most recently, he served as Deputy Managing Director at Teads, where he led the launch of a pivotal self-service Ad Manager in Europe and its future-proofing, cookieless solution in the UK market.

Carzam has appointed Edgardo Savoy to the role of Chief Technology Officer. Savoy is known for creating seamless customer experiences – something he has done for consumer brands including Paddy Power and He joins from money transfer company TransferGo and has held roles at, Paddy Power, The Racing Post and The Restaurant Group. Savoy will join the team at Carzam’s new headquarters at Westpoint in Lynch Wood, Peterborough.

History Hit, the fast-growing SVOD and content platform acquired by award-winning Little Dot Studios in 2020, has appointed Bill Locke as Head of Original Programming. Locke joins History Hit after 20-years at All3Media sister company Lion TV, most recently as Director of Specialist Factual. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience working on history, science, archaeology, arts and documentaries for broadcasters worldwide. In recent years Locke has made films for BBC, C4, ITV, C5, Sky, ARTE, France Television, History Channel, National Geographic, Smithsonian, PBS and TRT (Turkey). This news follows on from the promotion of James Carson to Managing Director, effective from the beginning of this year, as well as the recently announced History Hit and Little Dot Studios media partnership on the search for the wreck of Shackleton’s Endurance.

Samantha Wessels has joined Snyk as our new Vice President, EMEA Sales. Most recently, Wessels served as Vice President, EMEA Sales, at Elastic where over the past three years, she helped build and orchestrate a successful go to market motion across Europe in key markets. Prior to her impactful time with Elastic, she held several leadership roles during 15 impressive years with Dimension Data (now a part of NTT), including Senior Vice President, Group Sales Operations and Enablement as well as SVP, Global Cloud Sales.

Digital transformation and technical specialist, ddroidd, has appointed two senior experts to strengthen the leadership team and support company growth. Cosmin Cristea joins as Delivery Director and Andrei Avram as Technical Director. Both will form part of the senior management team (SMT) and have an important role in the future development and growth of ddroidd. With more than 20 years’ experience, Cristea has worked in both technical and management roles, including almost 15 years at Endava in various positions across the business. As Delivery Director, Cristea will have a global overview of delivery and establish new processes, where required, to ensure consistent quality is maintained across all projects as the company scales. He will also be responsible for the growth and development of the team. Working with the SMT, Cristea will have a focus on new business and supporting commercial relationships. Avram has a diverse technical background with 10 years’ experience working for a range of companies of varying size from start-ups to large global companies. He will lead, develop and grow the technical team at ddroidd. As part of Avram’s role, he will be continually looking forward at where technology is going to ensure ddroidd stays ahead as the industry evolves.

Sectigo®, a global provider of digital certificates and automated Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) solutions, has announced the appointment of David Mahdi, former VP analyst at Gartner, to the executive role of Chief Strategy Officer and CISO Advisor. Mr. Mahdi
will help lead the efforts to expand Sectigo’s leadership in the digital trust space. Mr. Mahdi advised clients and executives on topics ranging from, cybersecurity, IAM, blockchain, PKI, IoT, cloud and data security during his tenure as a top performing Gartner analyst. His depth and breadth of coverage made him one of the most demanded industry analysts for clients around the globe. With a career spanning 20 years, Mr. Mahdi worked in areas such as hardware and software development, endpoint security, PKI, cryptography, blockchain, and digital identity (IAM).

Fabio Marastoni, Chief Strategy Officer at Improvado, a modern data stack platform for revenue teams, has been accepted into Forbes Business Development Council, an invitation-only community for senior-level sales and business development executives. Marastoni was vetted and selected by a review committee based on the depth and diversity of his experience. Criteria for acceptance include a track record of successfully impacting business growth metrics, as well as personal and professional achievements and honors.

Wavemaker has appointed former Lucky Generals CEO Katie Lee as Chief Growth Officer. Lee will sit on the agency’s executive leadership team, reporting to Paul Hutchison, Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for new business and bringing the agency’s positive provocation mission to life. A longstanding and highly-respected leader in the UK advertising industry, Lee brings a wide breadth of experience to the role, having previously held senior positions at a number of the world’s most creative agencies, including at Omnicom-owned agency Lucky General, as their first CEO and prior to this as Marketing Director and latterly Managing Director at global creative agency, Leo Burnett. Lee’s long-running advertising career also spans MD roles at tech and content agencies  Sunshine and Gravity Road, and earlier posts at BBH and Saatchi & Saatchi. She joins Wavemaker from Clementine, a hypnotherapy app for women, where she was Chief Executive—marking a welcome return to the industry.

Wavemaker has also announced Sarah Salter in the new role of Global Head of Applied Innovation. As part of Wavemaker’s Worldwide Consulting Hub and based in London, Salter will work with the agency’s global clients and network to simplify the complex world of innovation, directly applying innovative technology to live projects that solves for client’s specific growth challenges. Salter joins from a position as Head of Innovation with Wavemaker UK where she has led the agency’s key client relationships in digital transformation and innovation. She has been the driving force behind campaigns and consumer experiences like Nationwide’s Local Voices on Alexa and Google, Compare the Market’s immersive augmented reality experience, the Public Health Breastfeeding Friend on Alexa and Google and the NHS WhatsApp response to Covid-19. With 15 years’ experience Salter has worked in marketing roles at brands such as P&G, Casio and Equinox, as CMO at fast-growing start-up Vrumi and at Wavemaker helping brands grow through transformational marketing and innovation both in the UK and the US. She is also an IPA Woman of Tomorrow and chaired the 2021 Campaign Technology judging panel.

Medius, a provider of spend management solutions, has announced the appointment of Jeff Swan as its Global Chief Revenue Officer. Swan, a former Oracle NetSuite VP and 20-year SaaS sales veteran, is the latest in a string of senior leadership hires – including CEO Jim Lucier, appointed in September, new CSO Branden Jenkins and CMO Kim Albrecht – charged with spearheading the next phase of the company’s growth. Swan joins Medius from Oracle NetSuite where he spent 17 years in senior leadership, sales and account management roles, rising to Area Vice President for Product-based Industries in November 2018. Prior to that he led business development in Europe for AboveNet Communications. His expertise includes strategic account planning, sales management, client development, channel and direct sales and product and technology positioning.

Iles’s illustrious creative career spans multiple disciplines, leading multi-platform external and internal communications campaigns for clients across all industry sectors, including Coca-Cola, Dacia, EE, Harrods, Morrisons, Nissan, Renault UK, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Royal Mail, Save the Children and Unseen. His award-winning work includes the Worlds Apart campaign for Heineken UK in 2017, noted as the brand’s most successful single campaign ever, and has won awards at Cannes, Caples, Campaign Big, Creative Circle, DMAs, Echos and a YouTube Effectiveness Award.

Juni, the financial companion for ecommerce entrepreneurs, has announced the expansion of its leadership team with Dee Janssens joining as Vice President of People. Janssens has years of experience in HR operations, talent acquisitions and employee engagement, most recently as the Head of Talent Experience & HR Operations EMEA at Netflix, where she played a key role in expanding HR’s office presence from 2 to 11 locations in the EMEA region, and as People Operations Specialist EMEA at Uber, where she supported employees spread over 45 countries.

Commvault, a recognised global enterprise leader in intelligent data services across on-premises, cloud, and software as a service (SaaS) environments, has announced Danielle Sheer as Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. She will lead the company’s global legal and compliance teams and its governance, commercial, intellectual property, and privacy programs. Sheer has repeatedly scaled data privacy and other global legal operations for public technology companies led IPOs and transformative strategic transactions and integrations and advised management and boards on governance and shareholder matters for SaaS and software technology firms. Sheer previously served as General Counsel at financial technology services company Bottomline and at cloud-backup SaaS solutions provider Carbonite. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of LinkSquares; the Leadership Board at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center; and on the Steering Committee for TechGC.

Global experiential advertising agency Momentum Worldwide has appointed Matt Lewis as its new UK president. Lewis moves from his role of president at Momentum Worldwide Canada to undertake the position. During his six years at Momentum Canada, Lewis won Momentum Worldwide’s first Cannes Lions Grand Prix for Nike’s “Just Do It HQ At The Church” work, and significantly grew the agency. Lewis will replace Luke D’Arcy, who will be moving into a newly created position of EMEA growth officer after being UK president since 2016. Lewis will be relocating to London to take up the position as UK president with immediate effect and will report to Chairman and CEO Chris Weil. As UK president, Lewis will focus on elevating creative and integrated technology to create hybrid experiences such as Momentum Worldwide’s WhiteBox platform, for clients including Microsoft and American Express.

Stint, the student work app, has announced the appointment of Harry Lang as its first Chief Marketing Officer. This senior hire comes as Stint looks to drive forward its ambitious growth plans going into 2022. Lang will lead, grow and mature the marketing team with a focus on building brand strategy and brand awareness, improving use of analytics and reporting, and introducing an affiliate marketing and partnerships strategy. With over 22 years in the marketing sector, Lang holds extensive experience in omnichannel marketing strategy, growth and brand development for global online gaming operators and innovative digital brands. He joins Stint from Buzz Bingo, Britain’s biggest bingo business, where he was Marketing Director, responsible for developing and overseeing its marketing strategy. Lang previously held senior integrated marketing positions at several of the world’s largest online betting and gaming operators including Genting Casinos, bwin and Pinnacle Sports. He began his career at Saatchi & Saatchi and has worked on award-winning advertising campaigns for global brands such as Budweiser, Sony Playstation and Penguin Books. 

marketplace amp, the UK’s only FMCG grocery aisle marketplace specialist, focusing on food and drink, health and beauty, pet care and homeware, has appointed Amazon expert Ryan Priestman as Client Services Manager. With over 10 years of experience in e-commerce customer management at Unified Retail and B.H. Digital, Priestman brings a wealth of strategic global e-commerce expertise to the agency. He will be working on a wide range of strategic client growth projects to support the next phase of marketplace amp’s growth.

McCann is strengthening its PR and Social operation in Bristol through the appointment of Laura Lear and Melody Meacher-Jones, following a successful year for the agency. Lear joins McCann as Bristol PR and Social Managing Partner from Speed Communications where she headed up the Business and Corporate team, working with blue-chip clients across multiple sectors including professional services, transport and logistics, health and technology. Prior to that, she has undertaken roles at leading agencies in Sydney, Dubai and London. As well as heading up the existing PR team and client portfolio at McCann Bristol, Lear will work with Melody to expand the agency’s social offering, McCann LIVE, which has experienced significant growth in the last year. Meacher-Jones joins from Lidl where, as Social Media Lead, she was responsible for the brand’s consumer social media and influencer strategies, including campaigns. She has also worked at BT and Nestle, bringing with her significant client-side understanding.

 Qlik® has announced that DeLisa Alexander has joined the company’s Board of Directors as its first outside director. Alexander most recently served as EVP and Chief People Officer at Red Hat, where she led the NYSE-listed, S&P 500 organization’s efforts to build an open and unique leadership culture. She directly supported and advised Red Hat’s Board of Directors, with particular focus on executive and equity compensation programs, succession management and corporate governance programs. Before joining Red Hat in 2001, Alexander practiced law, focusing on corporate, venture capital and business and transaction law. Alexander presently serves as Board Advisor to two venture capital firms (Capri Venture Partners and Bull City Venture Partners) and as a board member for three nonprofit organizations, including the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

RingCentral, Inc., a provider of global enterprise cloud communications, video meetings, collaboration, and contact center solutions, has announced that Mo Katibeh, former Chief Product Officer and Chief Marketing Officer for AT&T Business, will join the company as Chief Operating Officer, reporting to founder, chairman and CEO Vlad Shmunis. Katibeh will be responsible for RingCentral’s products, sales, marketing, and customer experience. Over his 20 year career, Katibeh held multiple executive positions at AT&T, including EVP Chief Product & Platform Officer and EVP Chief Marketing Officer of AT&T Business where he oversaw all product and marketing responsibilities, as well as go to market sales for digital, wholesale, and indirect channels – and was recognized as one of the World’s Most Influential CMOs by Forbes for 2019 and 2020. 

We Are Social has bolstered its strategy offering with two key promotions. Mobbie Nazir will move to the position of global chief strategy officer, while Harvey Cossell moves into the chief strategy officer role in the UK. In her new role, Nazir, who has been with We Are Social for more than seven years, will be charged with business strategy and growth among global clients, as well as building up the agency’s strategic and insights capabilities across the network. In her time at We Are Social Nazir has developed the agency’s strategic product offering to ensure the agency remains at the forefront of evolving client needs and industry developments. She played a leading role in the development and launch of the agency’s new cultural insights products and gaming offering and was instrumental in the creation of the agency’s Diversity & Inclusion Charter for Change, which was named the best global D&I initiative at Campaign’s 2021 Agency of the Year Awards. Cossell, who joined We Are Social in 2016 as Head of Strategy, will take on an expanded role, leading the charge on how to future-proof the UK business while highlighting strategic opportunities for clients. Working closely with Nazir and Coleman, Cossell will continue to lead his teams and clients and develop the business’s focus on building the media and distribution offering in the UK. He will work to continue to raise the profile of We Are Social’s strategic expertise and will also be a key member in the ongoing discussions around how to future-proof the business.

NTT Ltd., a global technology and business solutions provider, has announced Miriam Murphy’s appointment as CEO, Europe NTT Ltd., effective from 3 February. Reporting to Abhijit Dubey, Global Chief Executive Officer, NTT Ltd., Murphy will focus her deep understanding of the region to drive NTT’s European sales and business development organizations and extend customer partnerships. Murphy brings more than 25 years of IT experience and joins NTT from Tech Data, a TD SYNNEX company. At Tech Data, she was a member of the European Executive Board and served as Senior Vice President, Advanced and Specialized Solutions business, EMEA. Murphy was responsible for go-to-market strategy and P&L management, spanning data center and next-generation technology solutions portfolios including cloud, internet of things, analytics, security collaboration and associated services.
