Digital Agency, Nonsense, have created a 26-minute virtual assembly on behalf of the NSPCC featuring Ant & Dec and David Walliams. This special broadcast is part of a series of assemblies ‘Speak Out. Stay Safe’ created to continue the charity’s vital work in helping children to stay safe from abuse and neglect. During lockdown, calls to the NSPCC helpline have increased by a third.
The Assembly was broadcast live on-line to primary school children on Friday 5 June and is available to download from the NSPCC website as part of an on-going campaign. The broadcast has been an immediate success with over 6,000 classrooms watching the live stream and an additional 32,000 individual views in the first 3 hours. There have now been an additional 60,000 views across social media.
Nonsense’s brief was to lead the activation from creative, script writing, directing and production of the assembly. The entire project was produced during isolation with remote workflows and in collaboration with Momentum Social . Nick Armitage, Managing Director of Nonsense London, comments “We couldn’t be happier with the outcome of this project. Something that the team managed to turn around in rapid time, with some awesome talent, entirely remotely and with excellent results.”.
James Barker, Head of Digital Engagement, NSPCC added “Primary Schools play an essential role in keeping our children safe and we have managed to reach 90% of primary school children with our Speak Out. Stay Safe assembly. However, due to the pandemic we have been unable to go into schools so by hosting a virtual assembly we can reach even more children during lockdown to let them know who to turn to for help. By working with Nonsense, they helped us make the assembly a reality within a challenging time-frame and reduced resources. Creating this broadcast during lockdown doesn’t come without its hitches but together we’ve worked through all the creative and technical issues swiftly which has resulted in an amazing resource for children and their families.”
