Media Marketing Compliance (MMC) has announced the appointment of Nick Manning into the new role of Non-Executive Chairman, as the company gears up for the next stage in its expansion. Nick Manning has provided specialist services to advertisers throughout his career, including as co-founder of Manning Gottlieb Media (now M G OMD), and as CEO of OMD’s UK media agency division. He has since spent over 15 years providing independent consultancy services in media effectiveness, efficiency and transparency, at Ebiquity, MediaLink and for his company, Encyclomedia International. Manning has long been a champion of media transparency for advertisers and has helped the US Association of National Advertisers (ANA) develop industry studies into the complexity of the digital media ecosystem.

monday.com, a work operating system (Work OS) where organisations of any size can create the tools and processes they need to manage every aspect of their work, has announced the appointment of Shiran Nawi as Chief People and Legal Officer, effective May 15, 2023. Over the course of her five-year tenure at monday.com, Nawi served as the company’s General Counsel and an influential part of the senior management team. Alongside building, scaling, and leading the legal department of 20 people, Nawi helped architect monday.com’s forward-looking strategy and some of the company’s biggest, cross-company initiatives, such as its IPO, corporate philanthropy arm Digital Lift, and OKR efforts. As Chief People and Legal Officer, Nawi will now oversee all aspects of HR and legal affairs, including talent acquisition and development, employee experience, and fostering an inclusive work environment for all monday.com employees, as well as the company’s global corporate legal strategy and compliance. She will report to co-CEOs Roy Mann and Eran Zinman.

The Evening Standard has appointed award-winning journalist Dylan Jones as its next Editor-in-Chief, effective 5 June. Jones, who has been working with the iconic London newsbrand as an Editorial Consultant since April, will lead The Evening Standard’s newsroom and oversee all aspects of its editorial output. He succeeds Acting Editor Jack Lefley, who has been promoted to Managing Editor of The Evening Standard. Jones brings to The Evening Standard extensive experience from a celebrated journalistic career spanning four decades. As the editor of GQ magazine, a position he held for 22 years, he won the British Society of Magazine Editors [BSME] “Editor of the Year” award a record eleven times. In 2013, he was the recipient of the prestigious Mark Boxer Award, awarded by the BSME for an outstanding contribution to magazine publishing in the UK; GQ won over 80 awards throughout his tenure. A former editor at i-D, The Face, Arena, The Observer, and The Sunday Times, Jones is also the author of several books, including the Sunday Times best-seller David Bowie: A Life, the New York Times best seller Jim Morrison: Dark Star, and the much-translated iPod, Therefore I Am and Mr. Jones’ Rules. He collaborated with David Cameron on Cameron on Cameron: Conversations with Dylan Jones (shortlisted for the Channel 4 Political Book of the Year).

Experience design company, Imagination, has hired Justine Carr as its new Head of Growth in Australia. Joining from her role as APAC Business Director for George P Johnson, Carr will spearhead new business planning, development and execution, driving sustained new client engagement and growth. In her new role, Carr will be responsible for Imagination’s wider strategic goal of building its brand reputation and driving business growth by delivering world-class immersive and integrated experiences. This includes experience design consultancy, live events, brand destinations and digital content. She will work alongside Kate Daly, Creative Service Director, focusing on growing existing and new clients while also taking their experience into innovative and exciting new directions. With previous experiential marketing agency experience, Carr brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Imagination, including strategy, brand, creative, digital tech, experiential, comms, social media and PR. In her previous roles, she has worked across a diverse range of industries with clients including Visa, Google, Johnson & Johnson and L’Oréal.

Mangopay, the platform-specific payment infrastructure provider, announces the appointment of Michal Jedraszak as Chief of Staff. In this newly created position, Michal Jedraszak will oversee project management and governance, and drive cross-functional initiatives. Jedraszak will also work closely with the C-suite to develop and implement strategic plans to support Mangopay’s global growth. Prior to joining Mangopay, he led the international expansion of Moss, a German fintech specializing in expense management automation. With over 10 years of experience in the financial industry, Jedraszak has a proven track record of managing and scaling fintech companies and projects across European markets. He will be responsible for planning and implementing strategic plans to drive Mangopay’s growth and overseeing the company’s project portfolio’s performance. Reporting directly to Mangopay’s CEO, Romain Mazeries, Jedraszak will serve as a liaison between the CEO and other executives. 

Turley has announced a new Head of strategic communications, as the planning and development consultancy continues to broaden its communications and engagement advisory offer in the built environment sector. John Davison now leads Turley’s strategic communications service across the UK and Ireland, succeeding Nick Jones, who was promoted to Senior Director last year. Both moves demonstrate the increasing significance of strategic communications to Turley’s projects and clients, and a culture of distributed leadership. Whilst Jones will continue to champion the value of professional engagement and public affairs within Turley’s multi-service offer, Davidson has reorganised the team into three distinct offers designed to help clients win permission for even better developments; deepen their insights into communities, shaping better places; and supporting both private and public sectors to deliver creative communications campaigns to promote exciting places, projects or their wider corporate activity. Davidson will be supported by Emma Dickson who becomes Head of strategic communications north. Dickson will focus on diversifying the strategic communications project pipeline across the north of England, while nurturing and adding to the team’s exceptional talent, across all regions. Alongside these two appointments, Turley has also promoted Emily Bell to Associate Director in Bristol; and Alice Jones and Michael Jardine to Senior Consultant in London and Belfast respectively.

Global communications agency Battenhall has announced three key senior promotions, as well as a new Battenhall Insights offering, as part of the agency’s commitment to innovation and continued growth. Phil Sheard, who has been with Battenhall for eight years, has been promoted from Director of Product and Innovation to Chief Innovation Officer. In his new role, Sheard will oversee the agency’s tech development and innovation teams, as well as the new Battenhall Insights division, which will be led by newly-promoted Jonny Atter, who has taken on the role of Director, Insights. Battenhall Insights has launched in response to rising client demand for deep social media data, reporting and analytics, and comprises a global team of more than 20 Battenhall consultants. Atter, who has been with Battenhall for eight years, will spearhead the division’s global growth. Meanwhile, Rhian Robinson has been named UK and EMEA Managing Director, having risen through the ranks at Battenhall: from senior account executive in 2015 to now leading the agency’s UK and EMEA business. Robinson will focus on sector growth and diversity in EMEA and assemble a senior leadership team to help oversee Battenhall’s burgeoning UK and international client base. 

Global influencer marketing agency, Billion Dollar Boy (BDB), announces the appointment of Simon Harwood as Global Performance Director. The newly created role is designed to facilitate even closer working relationships between key functions of the business, including the data, strategy and paid media teams, to optimise initiatives, processes and outputs. Harwood will also be responsible for developing new models to measure and prove effectiveness across the marketing funnel, with the ultimate aim of ensuring the agency continues to deliver award-winning influencer marketing and advertising campaigns. He will also work closely with BDB’s clients and client services teams to plan, develop and launch new products. As Global Performance Director, Harwood will work closely with co-founders Ed East, Thom Walters and Permele Doyle as well as global management to enhance the agency’s global corporate strategy and drive positive change in the creator economy. Harwood joins BDB from the7stars, the UK’s biggest independent media agency, where he was Head of Strategy. His previous experience includes senior roles as Head of Creativity & Innovation and Head of Futures at PHD Media. He brings 20 years of senior experience in the industry, guiding C-Suite marketers at a wide variety of clients including Warner Bros, Mondelez, Gousto, McCain, Expedia and more.

Wired Sussex has appointed CEO Iain McKenna to lead the non-profit membership organisation as it supports media, digital and technology businesses in the region. McKenna joins Wired Sussex with extensive leadership experience, having worked in management roles for media businesses including Bauer Media, Heart FM, Original 106 FM and as Global Radio’s regional managing director for the south. Plans for the organisation include leading an era of increased collaboration, as Wired Sussex continues to act as the voice for Brighton, Hove and Sussex’s growing media, digital and tech economy, on a regional and national level.

Integrated healthcare and b2b technology agency SAY Communications has appointed a trio of new talent to the company’s healthcare team. Surinder Maan joins SAY as an Associate Director. Maan has worked in healthcare communications for over 20 years both in-house and in agency. With a special interest in rare diseases and oncology she has successfully led the implementation of award-winning UK and Global communications campaigns. She is a passionate advocate of building and driving an inclusive workplace culture. Maan holds an honours degree in Physiology. Melissa Kerschen joins SAY as an Account Director. Kerschen has over 20 years’ experience in communications. Earlier in her career, Kerschen worked as a science journalist and editor. More recently, she has developed PR and digital marketing campaigns for clients in healthcare. Kerschen’s background also encompasses award-winning charity communications. She holds a master’s degree from John Hopkins University in creative nonfiction and science writing. Ben Palmer joins SAY as a Junior Account Executive. Palmer is a recent graduate who is keen on learning the inner workings of PR and marketing. With a background in biology and experience in social media, Palmer is passionate about science communications but also has a creative streak with an eye for design and aesthetics. Ben holds an honours degree in Biology.
