Beyond the screen: Why the next era of advertising belongs to live, high-attention moments

Following senior leadership roles across media and adtech, including serving as Commercial Managing Director  at Blis ahead of its acquisition by T-Mobile, Glenn Davis has joined Konnected+ as Managing Director. NDA sat down with him to discuss Konnected+’s mission to drive its next phase of omnichannel expansion across out-of-home and linear live sports media.

Congratulations on the new role. To kick things off, talk through Konnected+, the proposition, and where the business sits in the market today.

Konnected+ was founded by John De Napoli just under three years ago. The business originally built out its footprint alongside Atmosphere TV, which is massive in the US, delivering targeted content streams across gyms, offices, bars, and healthcare settings.

The major shift came last year when Konnected+ secured exclusive venue rights for TNT Sports on a long-term  contract. It is now the only way to stream premium linear sports into commercial venues in the UK. That covers pubs, hotels,, gyms, sports clubs, football, cricket, and rugby grounds. Across the entire estate, the network reaches over 10 million adults a month across more than 32,000 venues.

What does that linear sports deal give access to?

Exclusive commercial venue rights cover whatever TNT carries: the Premier League 12:30 pm kick-offs, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Premiership Rugby Union, and events like the French Open & Tour De France

During the Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG, there was the same number of viewers  watching the match in pubs than at home, 2.2 million at home and 2.13m in venue.

It is a completely distinct audience segment. You cannot be in two places at once, so venue viewing delivers incremental reach that simply cannot be caught on home screens. Since securing those rights, the business has grown over 400% year-on-year.

In an era where digital channels are overwhelmed with clutter, how does the advertising model cut through across venues?

The broadcast features the same match coverage and programming as TNT Sports, but runs on a dedicated commercial feed with its own ad breaks.

Because it operates a focused network rather than carrying hundreds of brands  like traditional satellite providers, advertisers enjoy far less clutter and a much higher share of voice.

For instance, a major fast-food partner achieved a 34% higher share of voice through Konnected+ than on standard TV broadcast channels. Other key sectors include automotive, supermarkets, and alcohol brands, all looking to capture high-intent audiences during live social moments.

Beyond the core pub sports feed, how do the environments and content differ across other venues like gyms or offices?

Atmosphere TV reaches around three million people monthly across two and a half thousand venues, including gyms, offices, bars, and restaurants.

Content is tailored to the environment: in gyms, it streams dedicated fitness and wellness channels, while in pubs, it might run interactive quizzes or ambient sports content outside of major live matches.

How is the commercial proposition structured for agencies facing fragmented media buying?

On the TNT side, high-impact partner packages allow an advertiser to own specific high-attention moments, like every half-time break across all Champions League and  Premier League fixtures for a fixed period. Buyers get guaranteed category exclusivity in that break at a fraction of the cost of home TV buys, alongside a 100% brand-safe environment.

Historically, around 95% of revenue came directly via linear AV teams. A primary focus now is turning Konnected+ into a true omnichannel offering.

Buyers can gain access via linear AV, digital out-of-home, connected TV, and programmatic. Atmosphere TV  is fully connected into platforms like VIOOH and Vistar Media, allowing programmatic buyers to execute via PMP, programmatic guaranteed, or open exchange routes across DSPs like Magnite and PubMatic.

Only two weeks into the Managing Director role, what drew you to Konnected+ at this stage of your career?

Having known John for a long time and watched how he builds successful businesses, the timing aligned perfectly following a great journey with Blis after its acquisition by T-Mobile.

The demand landscape in programmatic and DSP channels is increasingly crowded, whereas high-engagement live environments are thriving. The power of live sporting events is massive.

Agencies are actively looking for impactful, brand-safe channels where audiences are truly present and engaged. The goal now is to build on a strong AV foundation, scale the programmatic offering, and drive the next phase of rapid growth.
