Bluestripe Group, the B2B communications, content and media business that specialises in serving media, tech and advertising clients, has announced the appointment of James McGowan to the new position of Growth Director. Bluestripe is the parent company of New Digital Age
McGowan will be responsible for developing commercial relationships around New Digital Age and the Bluestripe Group’s PR and Content divisions as well as growing the partnerships that the title already has with events organisers such as MAD//Fest.
Formerly Commercial Director at Mobile Marketing and Masterclassing Group, McGowan also spent ten years at The Drum where he worked with Bluestripe directors Andy Oakes and Justin Pearse.
Bluestripe was co-founded by managing director Andy Oakes, previously MD and head of content at The Drum; Justin Pearse, a founder and MD of The Drum’s branded content arm, Drum Studios, and former MD of Digiday’s content studio, Custom; and Lydia Oakes, a former head of marketing at iProspect UK (part of Dentsu Aegis) with more than 20 years in B2B PR and marketing.
James McGowan comments: “Over the last three years the Bluestripe Group has shown that the traditional PR agency, trade press and publishing models need to move on. I’ve always enjoyed working with innovative and exciting companies and Bluestripe is certainly that, not only in terms of its model but also approach.
“The Bluestripe team’s focus on collaboration and a desire to not only serve the industry but be a genuine part of it is something that really attracted me to the role. I’m very excited to join the team and work with them on new ways to grow the business whilst delivering results for our clients not only through awareness and new business but by continuing to encourage an open, honest conversation between peers, partners and competitors.”
Bluestripe Group Managing Director Andy Oakes said: “We’re hugely excited to welcome James to the team. He brings unrivalled industry experience, a track record of innovation and providing a great customer experience. He’s a perfect fit for Bluestripe as we continue to grow and expand our offering across the three parts of the business – communications, content and media.”
