BIMA is one of the most respected and influential trade associations representing the digital industry. To celebrate its upcoming BIMA 10 Awards, NDA has asked its illustrious judging panel to pick their own digital heroes.
Today we hear from Dan Sodergren, Co-Founder of YourFLOCK
Who is your digital hero?
Seth Godin.
What have they done to win hero status in your eyes?
He is the godfather of modern marketing. Just Google ‘Seth’ alone and he is there. He has written over 19 books and has produced a blog every day on https://seths.blog/ which now has over 7500 entries. His site receives about 600,000 visitors per month and consistently ranks near the top of Ad Age’s Power 150 (a daily ranking of marketing blogs).
How has their heroism helped drive digital?
He pioneered much of the underpinning understanding of marketing that now makes digital marketing more effective. Even if you have never heard of him or read his blog you will know one of his phrases. His wisdom now crosses over from marketing to philosophy and even today the future of work.
What are the biggest challenges in media we need another hero to solve?
Diversity and inclusion is the most obvious. And the most urgent. Not just in numbers of people employed but the whole culture of present-day digital marketing. But let’s be honest. That’s not for one person to DO. But for us all to help make it happen. It will take us all. The good news is…
We can all be heroes…
What is your most heroic personal achievement so far in digital?
I have been very lucky. I pioneered some augmented reality experiences 14 years ago for massive brands and built a gamified learning platform to help people get off benefits and start their own businesses. I even created digital training modules and digital transformation pieces for some household names and very forward-thinking organisations. But my biggest personal achievement is in co-founding www.yourflock.co.uk the world’s 1st employee engagement platform based on employee values. This ties into the remote work revolution making the future of work better for the world.
