All In Census 2025 opens: It’s time to “make sure your voice is heard”

The UK’s advertising and marketing talent are once again being called on to take part in the All In Census, which helps to create a picture of the make-up of the industry.

The 15-minute survey – led by the Advertising Association, IPA, ISBA, and Kantar – now includes questions about hybrid working, caring responsibilities, and the impact of AI. The data collected in previous years (2021 and 2023) has been used to help inform the All In Action Plan – a series of steps that the industry should take to improve representation.

Since the introduction of the Action Plan, more than 140 companies have become “All In Champions” for adopting it.

“We want as many as people as possible to take part in the All In Census today,” said Sharon Lloyd Barnes, Commercial Director and Talent & Inclusion Lead at Advertising Association. “Every voice, every piece of information, every data-point, is invaluable as we work together to tackle challenges some people face, and support everyone to be the very best they can be in our industry. Much of the progress made so far is thanks to the 19,000 people who took part in 2023. The same applies today – make sure your voice is heard!”

Of the nearly 19,000 people who took part in the 2023 edition, 60% of respondents were women and 39% were men. A fifth claimed they were likely to leave their company in the next 12 months, with the top three reasons being better opportunities/salary elsewhere, poor work/life balance, and a desire for a career change.

Talent who consider themselves carers to a family member made up 17% respondents. Meanwhile, only 20% of people described themselves as “working class” – a long way short of representing the 40% of the UK’s working population who are working class.

Another worrying finding was that 55% of women believe parental leave has negatively impacted their career progression, compared to just 6% of men.
