Manchester United footballer, broadcaster and entrepreneur Gary Neville is the latest keynote speaker to be announced for MAD//Fest London on the 4th to the 6th of July.
Neville has been a vocal critic on issues such as poverty, NHS pay and workers rights. He has built an empire of businesses including Hotel Football, Stock Exchange Hotel, Relentless Developments, Salford City FC, Education disruptor UA92 and production Company Buzz 16. He manages this portfolio alongside his role as Sky Sports football pundit.
On the pitch, Gary was an instrumental figure and captain of the most successful team of the Premier League era, making 602 appearances for Manchester United during a 17 year spell at the club. Perhaps his most famous moment was Manchester United’s sensational Champions League final turnaround victory against Bayern Munich in 1999. 1-0 down and in injury time, Neville was part of the team that dramatically snatched a 2-1 Champions League Cup final win in a match often cited as an example of why it’s important to never give up. Neville also won 85 England caps before retiring in 2011.
In an opening keynote at MAD//Fest London on 4 July, Neville will share his view on how brands and businesses can ride the storm and do the right thing ethically and commercially during challenging times.
“We all know how challenging the last few years have been on the economy, and that impacts businesses, it impacts our customers, it impacts our teams and it’s on us all to pull together and take care of the most important things to our businesses – our teams and our customers.
“During my career in football and in business, I’ve seen brilliant leaders and learnt so much from people like Sir Alex, Eric Harrison, Roy Keane. These are people who in the difficult moments would make everybody feel safe and rally the team to fight through and never give in. I’m really excited to be sharing my points of view at MAD//Fest London and I can’t wait to hear how the industry’s leaders are rising to the challenges of the day.”
Expected to attract 10,000+ marketers and named ‘Event of the Year’ at the UK Event Awards, MAD//Fest London speakers include Tesco Chief Customer Officer Alessandra Bellini, Castore Founder Thomas Beahon and Ben & Jerry’s Director of Global Activism Christoper Miller, LIPTON Global Chief Marketing + Digital Officer Aparna Sundaresh, Co-op Chief Customer Officer Kenyatte Nelson and S4 Executive Chairman Sir Martin Sorrell.
