The Road to Possible: Deborah Wahl, Global Chief Marketing Officer of General Motors

In the run up to POSSIBLE in Miami Beach, on April 17th-19th, for which NDA is the UK media partner, we talked with several key industry leaders supporting POSSIBLE, set to become our industry’s new key show.

To kick off, we ask Deborah Wahl Global Chief Marketing Officer of General Motors Motors for her thoughts on the event and trends in. her own market sector.

What is the biggest opportunity in your sector? And the biggest challenge?

Electrification, software-defined vehicles, and autonomous driving will reshape our world.

As the largest automaker in North America, our opportunity is to make that work for everybody. Always-on, software connectivity will transform vehicles into the fifth screen. Autonomous mobility raises the question of how we use the space and the time inside the vehicle when we’re no longer focused on driving.

The challenge?

No one has a frame of reference for what is coming. To put everybody in an EV, we have to rewire decades of cultural conventions and social norms. That’s the task ahead of us.

Why does the industry need a new event like POSSIBLE?

We need an event like POSSIBLE to openly share innovative and progressive thinking and push the future of marketing by discussing ‘what’s next’ and how we together can rewrite the marketing playbook.

The old ways won’t deliver the cultural impact, audience obsession, and innovative customer experiences we at GM need to take everybody on their own personal EV journey.

What is truly possible for us as a marketing industry if we refuse to accept the status quo? That’s the question we have to ask ourselves and why I’m excited to be a part of it the POSSIBLE conference.
