Wavemaker UK brings in new content MD

Media agency Wavemaker UK has appointed Sam Bird as Managing Director, Content and Brand Experience. Reporting to Ian Stevens, Chief Investment Officer at Wavemaker UK, Bird will lead the development of the agency’s content and creative capabilities, including content partnerships, innovation, sports, and gaming.

“During the interview process, my role was referred to as one of the most exciting in the agency, and I’m looking forward to making it exactly that,” said Bird. “My focus will be building upon the agency’s success by nurturing a culture of curiosity and collaboration to deliver unrivalled, award-winning work. I can’t wait to get to know the people in the agency, our clients and our partners so we can unlock and deliver that work together.”

Prior to his arrival at Wavemaker, Bird had two stints at OMD, separated by a year as Executive Director, Creative Solutions & Media Partnerships at The Stylist Group. In his most recent gig at OMD, Bird served as Head of Creative Services, Managing Partner, he played a key role in driving creative media across the agency and growth across OMD’s creative capabilities, working with brands including Levi’s, Burberry, Google, and Pepsico.

At The Stylist Group, Bird led and managed a team of strategists, project managers, producers, creatives, and designers, while growing creative solutions revenue for the brand.

“It’s an exciting time to bring Sam on board as we start 2024,” said Stevens. “He combines his passion for unearthing emerging trends for clients in his creative work with exceptional care for people, whether that be the teams he looks after or his clients.
