GroupM Nexus and EssenceMediacom picked up the Grand Prix at the first ever JCDecaux Programmatic DOOH Live Awards in London last night for their campaign on behalf of Costa. The Grand Prix was judged live by a panel of industry experts, as was the Best Presentation category, which was won by The7stars and Hawk for their work with TSB.
The awards, staged in partnership with New Digital Age, sought to honour the innovation, creativity and transparency of the programmatic Digital Out-of-Home space by judging the short-listed entries in front of a live audience.
Five further categories were decided by combining the votes of the expert panel (weighted by a factor of 2.5) and the gathered audience:
Best Use of Data was awarded to StoreBoost for its Bio Oil campaign;
Skyrise and John Ayling Associates won the Best Integrated pDOOH Campaign for their work with Woodland Trust, and also picked up the People Choice award with the same campaign;
Best Use of pDOOH and Mobile was awarded to Yahoo and IHG for ‘Hotel Indigo’;
GroupM Nexus, EssenceMediacom and On Device Research were honoured with the Best Use of Programmatic & Traditional OOH prize for their ‘Lucozade’ campaign;
Best Use of pDOOH and Online Video was won by Blis and Mediacom for their work with Mars.
A Creative Excellence award (judged by NDA editor Justin Pearse and JCDecaux’s, Head of Programmatic, Dom Kozak) went to Scoota and Threepipe Reply; while the Creative Attention awards (decided by putting all shortlisted through JCDecaux’s proprietary creative testing tool to predict how much attention any given creative will receive) was awards to GroupM Nexus and Mindshare for their work on ‘Cornetto’.
“Congratulations to all those who picked up prizes,” said JCDecaux’s Kozak. “The awards were designed to showcase the incredible creativity and strategic thinking that’s happening in the programmatic DOOH space. The event more than lived up to that.”
NDA’s Pearse agreed and predicted a bright future for the annual awards: “For an inaugural event, the level of interest the awards generated was fantastic. Expect the JCDecaux Programmatic DOOH Live Awards to return in 2025 even bigger and better.”
