Elon Musk, Twitter CEO, took advantage of his appearance at the Possible conference in Miami to send a clear message to advertisers that the company has taken note of the concerns and that the social network was a safe place for their brand.
In conversation with. Linda Yaccarino, Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships, NBCUniversal, he addressed a packed room of marketers that, prior to his appearance, felt more like a rock concert than an industry presentation.
“If there are legitimate concerns from advertisers, I want to hear them,” he said. “That’s the reason I am here.
Musk said he had “put a lot of effort” into addressing advertiser concerns. “If you put the adjacency controls in place, the negativity is almost zero.”
“Disney and Apple are still big advertisers and would have pulled their ads if they had any concerns and the controls weren’t working.”
Musk repeatedly trumpeted the success of Twitter’s move to make its algorithm open source, saying it had enabled it to fix multiple issues.
“We now offer complete transparency. I wouldn’t trust any platform that didn’t offer complete transparency,” he said.
Scathing of other social networks, he said: “even before the Twitter acquisition, I never found them very compelling.”
