Talent Tracker: Medialab, Immersive Labs, Feefo and more

Medialab has made two key senior appointments following another year of significant growth. With 15 years of experience working across a number of verticals, most recently at modelling and data measurement consultancy Data2Decisions, Anthony Pey joins Medialab as Head of  Marketing Effectiveness. Pey has come aboard to lead and further develop Medialab’s expanding data science and econometric modelling division which is ultimately responsible for driving growth for their client partners. In addition, Adam Cunnington has joined as Head of Data & Engineering. Previously  Engineering Leader for WPP Choreograph’s Performance & Analytics division (formerly  2Sixty, Essence), Cunnington brings a wealth of specialist skills and data analytical expertise that will enable the scaling of Apollo, Medialab’s marketing intelligence platform.

Immersive Labs has announced the appointment of Evelyn Swaim as the company’s first CMO. Technology marketing veteran and former Senior Vice President at Blue Prism, she takes a leadership position integral to creating and delivering the Immersive Labs vision as the company continues to scale globally, helping drive growth, awareness and category ownership. Her 15 years of experience developing brand and Go-To-Market strategy for companies such as TIBCO, Progress, Software AG and Nuance Communications will be central to creating measurable impact and scaling brand and revenues to build long-term corporate value. As a founding member of the Boston chapter of women’s executive leadership network CHIEF and a person of color, she also diversifies the knowledge, skills and judgement of the Immersive Labs C-Suite. This is central to Immersive Labs’ belief in harnessing the strengths inherent in a range of perspectives for more effective outcomes.   

Feefo has announced that it has appointed James Shanahan to the newly created role of Chief Marketing Officer. With a marketing career in the digital space spanning over 20 years, Shanahan joins Feefo from Bionic, an expert comparison service for SMEs, where he held the role of Director of Digital Marketing.  Prior to Bionic, Shanahan worked agency side for WPM and TDG, consulting on a mix of large corporates through to private equity scale-ups, and in-house for household names Virgin Atlantic and Comparethemarket.com. In his new role, James will be responsible for developing global brand and marketing strategies to advance Feefo’s international expansion. Shanahan will also drive new and existing customer revenue growth with a best-in-class marketing and analytics team that will continually improve customer acquisition and retention metrics. 

Christian Sellars has been appointed as VP of Revenue by fast-growing conversational media platform Octaive. Sellars will be responsible for leading the sales strategy and alignment across marketing and product for the pioneering business. Sellars joins Octaive after seven years at Teads where he was Business Director, running a sales team covering the GroupM agency group. The announcement comes shortly after the company secured a £500k in an angel investment round.

ESG technology provider Emex has appointed new CMO, Hugh Allspaugh as part of a new growth strategy aimed at disrupting the sustainability space in 2022. Reporting to global CEO Richard Wall, Allspaugh joined Emex from VSA Partners as the new Chief Marketing Officer in September. He is tasked with both elevating the Emex brand to be the category leader in sustainability measurement and business performance insights as well as attracting the top-tier talent needed to address the complexity of sustainability and support Emex’s ambitious growth plans. With three decades of global branding and marketing agency experience across New York, London, Los Angeles and Chicago, Allspaugh brings a wealth of experience in the sustainability space to Emex as well. He previously sat on the Sappi NA Sustainability Council from 2016-2021 and acted as the lead strategist for Sappi’s annual sustainability report. 

MediaCom UK has announced the appointment of Adrian Walcott, its first external board advisor and one of the most sought-after industry voices in helping to decode culture, inclusion and business transformation. Walcott brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked in the media, marketing and advertising industry for some of the UK’s most recognisable companies for over 25 years. Starting his career in advertising at Ogilvy, he has since held senior positions at Barclays Bank, where he was responsible for brand internalisation, before leading on brand product and social media marketing at Eurostar. What’s more, he is the co-founder of Noturningback2020.com – a social enterprise which focuses on encouraging more people from diverse ethnic backgrounds into the marketing, media and communications sector – and he launched Brands With Values that specialises in building culture, inspiring inclusion and driving transformation for some of the UK’s leading businesses. Starting immediately, Walcott joins MediaCom’s team of 12 UK Executive Committee board members in a consulting capacity. Its Executive Committee team is proud to champion diversity with a 50-50 gender split – a positive representation in the industry and wider society in general.

Quentin Ellis has been appointed Managing Director at ConsultMyApp (CMA). In his new role at ConsultMyApp, he will be responsible for driving growth, realizing new talent and developing CMA’s training capabilities. Ellis has over 15 years’ experience as a digital strategist, growing and managing teams locally, near and offshore, and creating compelling product experiences. Prior to his arrival at ConsultMyApp, Ellis was co-founder and Director of Strategy and Experience of Cohaesus, the Managing Director at Bright Blue Day Digital and has acted as UX Director for companies including Sideshow, Make It Donate and Sainsburys Bank. His recent experience growing Cohaesus from a digital production company to a full-service strategic consultancy, will prove invaluable as he steps into its new role with ConsultMyApp.

The Switch, a provider of production services and global delivery of live video, has announced the appointment of Peter Timmons as Senior Product Manager. In this new position, Timmons will take a central role in the growth and development of The Switch’s Cloud Video Services platform, MIMiC, taking the strategic lead in creating and delivering best-in-class products and services across the company’s entire cloud-based portfolio. Timmons comes to The Switch with more than 20 years of product management, marketing, systems integration and business development experience across the media and entertainment sector. He recently served as Business Development Director, EMEA at GatesAir, where he drove growth opportunities within wireless broadcast transmitters, and STL codecs. Previously, Timmons held roles as Senior Product Manager at Snell Advanced Media, EMEA Channel Manager at Imagine Communications and Live Production Systems Architect at Sony.

eConsult, the digital triage system for NHS GPs, A&E and outpatient clinicians, has appointed Rex Cooper as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Reporting into CEO and co-founder, Dr Murray Ellender, Cooper brings a wealth of technology strategy to its leadership team. Cooper joins eConsult having had an incredibly fruitful career in a range of technology-driven transformation roles. Prior to this, Cooper worked for more than two years as the CTO of Your.MD where he was responsible for driving forward a new self-care offering alongside an AI Chatbot with Automated Medical Safety checks, the entire reconstruction of Your.MD’s content platform and the implementation of a brand new iOS app. Cooper has also held leading technology roles at the Guardian and BMJ, where he led the agile transformation of the organisation’s tech offering.

One of Yorkshire’s fasted growing PR and marketing agencies, eyeing both national and international growth, has appointed its first non-executive director. Richard Kenny, whose 30-year career has seen him work with companies at board level across Europe, the United States and the Far East, will offer strategic guidance and new business development support to The Big Bamboo Agency’s founder, Nicola Stamford. The pair first met in 2009, when they both worked for Yorkshire engineering company, NG Bailey. Currently Managing Director of TSA Europe, Richard has operated globally in sectors such as tech, financial services, retail, manufacturing and production. He is a qualified behavioural psychologist, with expertise in the performance of executive teams and leaders. 

Pipedrive, the sales-first CRM and intelligent revenue management platform for small and medium sized businesses, has announced the appointment of the newest members of the company’s executive team: Peter Harris as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Malgosia Plucinska as the Chief Customer Officer (CCO). Joining Pipedrive’s London office, Pete has worked for more than a decade with small and medium-sized businesses to help them succeed. For the last four years, he was responsible for building and growing Intuit Quickbooks’ Global Business Development and Global Partnerships function. Before that, he spent 13 years at Deloitte in Strategy Consulting, launching an Incubator, a Venture function, and most recently the COO of a startup called Propel. Malgosia has been driving business transformation and revenue growth for more than 15 years in various Private Equity owned companies. Before joining the Pipedrive team, she led TIBCO’s Digital Acquisition and Retention efforts globally establishing Account Management and Renewals best practices shared across the Vista Equity portfolio companies. She has extensive experience working with Small and Medium Business customers in their journey to digitize their processes and drive their Go-To-Market innovation.
